• All foods (veggies, fruits, grains, meat, dairy,
fat, eggshells, nuts, shells, and bones).
• Food soiled paper (coffee filters, tea bags,
parchment paper, uncoated paper plates,
etc.)
• House plants and cut flowers (remove
plant from soil— potting soil can be
rejuvenated with compost and reused.)
• Certified compostable products (bags,

NO: Including but not limited to…
• Trash
• Glass
• Metal
• Plastics
• Produce stickers
• Rubber bands and twist-ties
• Plastic and wax coated paper products
• Pet feces or litter

STORING:
• Store your toter or rear-load container where
you keep the rest of your waste and
recycling.
• Use a smaller container, where scraps are
created, for short-term storage and
transportation to your toter or rear-load
container.
• 5-gallon buckets are commonly used.
Containers larger than 10 gallons tend to
become too heavy to lift and dump safely.
COMPOSTABLE BAGS:
• Bags are optional, however, they do reduce
the amount of cleaning needed.
• Must be BPI Certified Compostable.
• Do not tie off the bags: food scraps trapped
in tied bags do not properly compost.
• It is more cost effective to use a larger bag
for your toters instead of smaller bags for
your kitchen containers.

CONTAMINATION POLICY:
• Contaminated toters or rear-load
containers will not be serviced. Customers
will be notified and provided with photo
documentation.
• Customers can either remove the
contaminants (if possible) or pay to have
that toter or container disposed of as trash.
PURCHASING
• Use re-usable items whenever possible.
• Switch your disposable items to
compostable disposable products.
• Reducing or eliminating the need to sort
will reduce the chances of contamination.
